It is with heavy hearts that we announce Violet's passing on February 11, 2022, at the age of 81 years after a brave battle with Alzheimer's disease. Violet will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Stephen; nephew Rod Rees (Sharon), their sons Brad and Draven; niece Susan Currie (Larry); niece Kari Roberts (Cory), and their son Hudson. Violet was predeceased by her husband Steve; mother Irma; father Alex; and sister Helen Kohalmi.

Violet was a kind and very outgoing person that loved to laugh and enjoy the company of friends and family. Born in Chilliwack and raised in Calgary she graduated as a radiological technician in 1962 from the Calgary General Hospital. She married in 1964 and moved to Edmonton where she would live the majority of her life.

Violet's passions included gardening, almost any craft you could imagine, and most of all reading, specifically murder mysteries. This love of reading lead her to volunteer at an elementary school in the early 1970s which eventually turned into a job with the Edmonton Public School Board as a library technician that lasted almost 30 years. Her love of the job, as well as the extracurricular activities of a Jr. High School such as concerts and costume making, touched the lives of so many young people. At some point, we all wonder if we have made a difference if it was worthwhile. There is no doubt that Violet's life made a difference to so many people.

Our family would like to acknowledge the wonderful work of the Brenda Stafford Foundation in Calgary, specifically the Bowview Manor. As well as the first responders and Rockyview hospital for their amazing care and dedication.

A celebration of life will occur sometime in the spring in Edmonton.
