Verna Mildred
Bourne
Sep 20, 1923 — Sep 17, 2020
On Thursday, September 17, on the 13th anniversary of her daughter Carol's passing, Verna Bourne of Calgary, Alberta (formerly Wolseley, Saskatchewan) passed away. She was 96.
Verna was predeceased by her husband Allen in 1981; her daughter Carol in 2007; her sister Laura; and her brother Lawrence. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Raymond (Aty); five grandchildren, Michael, Clinton (Heather), Cyndi (Nathan), Michelle, and Chris; three great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Yvonne, Harvey (Marilynn), Ruth, Gerald, Joyce (Harvey), Donald (Bona), Darlene, Marion (Harvey); as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Verna grew up in rural Saskatchewan. She met her husband Allen and they started a farm near Wolseley in 1943. She was an Avon sales representative for many years; was very active with the United Church, both with the United Church Women and as a Sunday School Teacher; and helped with Canadian Girls in Training. Verna and Allen moved from the farm to Wolseley in 1980 to retire. After moving to Wolseley, she enjoyed traveling with friends, quilting, and playing cards. Verna was family-focused, often attending family functions, having guests at the farm and her door was always open for her grandchildren when they 'forgot' their lunch.
