Trevor Dale
Kokot
Nov 20, 1959 — Dec 21, 2023
We are sad to announce the recent passing of Trevor Kokot on December 21, 2023. Trevor was born in Camrose, Alberta, on November 20, 1959. He lived in Leslieville, AB, Unity, and North Battleford, SK, before settling in Calgary as a young adult.
After graduating High School in 1977, he attended Berean Bible College where he studied Theology and expanded his love of Sacred Music. In the early 1980s, he studied to be a draftsman at SAIT and had a short career at Fluor. His life changed direction when he joined Wycliffe to learn French with the intention of serving as a Missionary in Côte d'Ivoire. In 1993, while learning french in France, he decided to stay in Lille, where he partnered with a local church in Missions work. He spent many hours translating Hymns and Carols into French. He had an unconventional outlook on life; events, current affairs, and theology and loved to debate these topics with a passion. Even though he was a natural introvert, he had an obsession with church development, assemblies, and worship. He continued to live in Lille for many years full-time and, eventually, part-time. It is evident that he gave much of his heart and energy to his church community in France and will be remembered for his spirited voice and unwavering beliefs.
He is survived by his only brother, Calvin; his three nephews; one aunt; numerous first cousins, and a few close friends. Rest in peace, Trevor.
