After a very brief battle with acute myeloid leukemia, Stan Kapki passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024. He was 78.

Stan spent his final days with his daughter, Shona, his grandkids, Kayla, Ireland, and Oakley, and their spouses, Joshua, Kenny, and Connor.

Stan grew up on a farm in the Canadian Prairies with his brothers and sisters. Life would scatter his family to all corners of the country and take him to Calgary, Alberta, where he met his lifelong love, Dorrie.

The two were married for 53 years and shared many adventures — kids, travel, pets, owning a business, and grandkids, among other things — before she passed away in January 2022.

Since then, he's lived with Shona and her family, getting endless cuddles from all of their pets, becoming something of an HGTV expert, and watching every single Flames game.

Stan kept his sense of humour to the end, making jokes and sharing laughs, sometimes even surprising his loved ones and care team with his quippy and insanely quotable remarks.

Dorrie was kind enough to give his family an extra two years with him before she called him home.

And that's a call he was always going to answer.

He will be deeply missed, but his family is taking comfort in the fact that his suffering was mitigated and that's he's now at peace.
