In Loving Memory of Oxana Serpukhovitina

Oxana of Calgary, AB, loving wife, and mother passed away in South Health Campus peacefully surrounded by her family on February 27, 2022, at the age of 51 years, after a courageous more than a year-long battle with her illness.

Oxana was born in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on March 19, 1970. She and her younger brother Sergey were raised by their mother, Tamara; and father, Anatoly. In 1992, she graduated from the Kyrgyz State University where she obtained her Bachelors' degree in English Language and Literature. In 2006, with her family, she immigrated to Canada, where she found her new home. She worked at Cotton Jinny, Shoe Company, and Smart Set as a retail customer associate, sales manager, and management consultant.

Oxana finished her working life in her dream job as the Lead Customer Experience Associate for TD Bank, where she worked for more than 10 years and where she was trusted and treasured by her work colleagues and numerous clients. She was passionate about her clients at TD Millrise Branch; she knew them all by name, remembered details about everyone she met. Some of them visited the branch just to see her, to chat with her, and share their stories, as she was not only a good listener but also was ready to run an extra mile to make everyone feel important, special, and happy.

Her zest for life was simple: love, family, smile, and laughter, always, whatever happens. Despite her deadly illness, she always had a smile and a cheery outlook for all the people she met. Only close family and friends were aware of her deadly illness because she did not want to upset people and make them feel sorry for her. Her friendly personality brought out happiness in all of her friends, who are scattered all across the globe.

Oxana loved travelling and enjoyed going to Europe to see her family, to the Caribbean's, as well as visiting other new places with the goal of enjoying great food, meeting new people, and having new adventures. Among her other passions were cooking, hiking, painting, sewing, gardening, as well as her little pet-friend Margo. Oxana was a glimmer of hope, she was a joy for everyone who knew her, and she was so full of life and emotions.

Oxana will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Alexander; and her son, Roman; long-time friends, Natalya and Jeno, Oleg and Svetlana, and many others who shared special bonds and relations with her. She is also survived by her heartbroken mother Tamara; and her brother Sergey, who live in Germany.

As per Oxana's wish, there will be no service. Friends, co-workers, or long-term customers, if so desired, in lieu of flowers are welcome to make contributions directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, (c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre) or to any other charity of your choice.

Our family also would like to express sincere gratitude to the nursing personnel of South Health Campus, namely Jesintha, Dylan, Angela, Alexis, and many others who did an incredible job helping Oxana during her hard time in the hospital.
