Another angel is up in heaven. Nettie, our Mother, Baba, Babcha, In-law, Cousin, and Friend, died peacefully just two weeks shy of her 94th birthday.

Her loving family will deeply miss her. Her cherished children: Patti (John), Debbie, and Don (Jan). Her adorable grandchildren that she was so proud of: Terra, Kaela (Sam), Scott, Nigel (Maria), Alexander (Sian), Kiidra, Jori, Kyrissa (Brent), and Cole; and her precious great-grandchildren: Aurora, Henry, Luca, Elijah, Holly, Anastasia, Patrick, and Elliot.

Nettie began her life in a humble house in Ituna, Saskatchewan. She married her husband, Leslie Kolisnyk (predeceased in 2009), and had three children in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She retired in Whytewold, Manitoba, and moved to Calgary, Alberta, to be closer to her Grandchildren. In the last couple of years, she resided in Cochrane, Alberta and made many trips to New Zealand.

Nettie started a career in medical records at the St. Boniface Hospital. She raised her children. She returned to medical records at Victoria Hospital when her children were in high school and university.

Nettie's greatest joy and happiness was her family. She had an unconditional and selfless love in everything she did. For most of her life, she had a big garden which gave us endless delicious meals and canned goods that lasted well into the next season. Her house was always filled with the magnificent aromas of freshly baked food. She loved to sew, and we always had a new outfit to wear at Easter, the first day of school, and Christmas. She was our family's Perogy Queen, making the most delicate perogies and teaching us all to continue this family tradition.

Throughout Nettie's life, she gave of herself in many volunteering jobs, from being a leader in Brownies and Girl Guides to helping with many tasks with her children's activities. She drove around the Interlake Region of Manitoba for years, delivering meals on wheels and visiting seniors.

Her unwavering dedication, belief in the Ukrainian Catholic faith, and love for her immediate family and numerous family members, no matter how distant, gave her great purpose and enjoyment.

We can only hope to continue her legacy and live as she did with a kind word, thoughtful gestures, and a smile for everyone she met.

With great appreciation, we would like to thank all who cared for and supported Mom's last weeks. The staff at Foothills Neurosciences and Palliative Care departments, the team at the Intercare Chinook Hospice, and the staff and residents of the Big Hill Lodge in Cochrane. Seeing so many caring, gentle, and genuinely concerned individuals was terrific. Thank you to Dr. Peter Thornton for his persistence and belief in Mom.
