Nadine Mary
Gammon
Jan 16, 1970 — Apr 21, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nadine Mary Gammon in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 55.
Nadine was born in Medicine Hat and moved with her family to Calgary in 1983. Nadine was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunty, and friend. She is survived by her daughters Morgan (William) and Alice (Geoff); cherished grandsons Andy and Sam; her mother Kathryn; sister Brook (Nick); nieces and nephews: Madison, Cameron, Charlotte, and Clara; her dear friend Shannon; countless cousins, aunties and uncles, in-laws, and friends.
Nadine was pre-deceased by her loving father Donnie in July 2024 and she still was mourning his passing.
Nadine dedicated over 20 years to teaching with the Calgary Board of Education before retiring at the age of 50. She was a passionate educator, an avid reader of good literature, and a tireless advocate for human rights. Nadine had a curious mind, an amazing memory, and the sunniest smile. Reading was her passion; wherever she was she filled every nook and cranny with books. She always had recommendations ready for any who asked. When asked what her favourite book was, she could never choose just one. "It's unfair to the other books!"
Nadine's laugh was contagious and could fill a room. She saw the best in people and went out of her way to make others feel seen, loved, and important.
Nadine was endlessly proud of her daughters and grandsons, speaking of them often and with overflowing joy. Her love for her family was fierce and unwavering.
Nadine didn't let her illness define her—instead, she filled her life even more richly with friendship, fun, and unforgettable moments while she could. As her best friend Shannon said: "Even knowing how this adventure ends, I would choose to do it all over again."
Her resilience, generosity, and radiant spirit will forever be remembered by those who were lucky enough to love her.
A celebration of Nadine's life will be held in the summer. Details will be shared with family and friends once finalized.
"I draw strength from the Moon, the Stars, the Sun. I am made of magic and light. As I will it, so mote it be."
