It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce that Mildred Jean Bear (Varty) has passed away suddenly at the age of 73, in the town of Vulcan, Alberta.

Millie was born in Percy Twp., Northumberland Co. Ontario to Edison Varty and Beatrice Dalton on January 07, 1949. Millie was the youngest of four children, later in the years they moved to the beautiful prairies of Alberta to the small towns of Rimbey and then Innisfail, where she spent her years growing up with her Mother Beatrice and Stepfather Basil. Millie graduated high school in Innisfail, then moved to Calgary to be closer to her family where she met Les Bear. They started a family of their own with children Scott, Jodie and Kluane who they raised in Bowness. Millie enjoyed spending her time around family, especially her sister Lila. They spent the weekends camping and you could almost always find her with one of her kids, nieces, or nephews. She loved cooking so much she turned it into her career, working on the set of North of 60 and the Forestry cooking for many years. Later in life Millie met Bob in Calgary and they moved to Carmangay where they spent the last 20+ years of their life. You could find Millie serving smiles at the Grange hotel she was more than a bartender and will always be remembered for her spunky personality.

Millie is survived by her stepfather Basil Dalton, children Scott Bear and Jodie Bear (Wim Kamphorst) her grandchildren Hayden Bear (Destiny Mercereau-Pickles), Branden Bear (Junghee Hyun), Taylor Bear (Ryan Meredith), Britney Bear, Shelby Bear, Cassady Bear (Alex Gehring), Phillip Bear (Brianna Jays), Riley Bear, her great grandchildren Alexander Mckay, Keegan Bear, Julianna Bear and Serena Meredith-Bear. Millie is Pre-deceased by her Mother Beatrice Dalton, father Edison Varty, husband Les Bear, sister Marg Varty, brother Jim Varty, sister Lila Wilson (Bill Wilson), Daughter Kluane Bear (Greg Anderson). Along side numerous nieces and nephews and others she treated as her family.

The family is having a Celebration of life on March 26, 2022, 2:00pm held at the Carmangay Community Centre 516 Grand Avenue Carmangay, AB. As well as another Celebration of life on April 1, 2022, at 4:00pm held at the Bowness Legion 138 Bowness Center NW, Calgary AB.
