Michael (Mike) John Lee passed away peacefully on the evening of August 10, 2022. Mike grew up in Wirral, England where he played professional cricket in his early twenties. After a successful career as a cricketer, he was recruited by The Bank of Montreal. He left his mother and father (Audrey and Geoff), and all his friends and teammates back in the UK to make the move to Canada.

Throughout his life, Mike was a loyal supporter of his favourite premier league soccer team - Everton.  Waking up at 4:00 am to watch matches on TV became the norm and a regular occurrence in the Lee household!

Mike moved from his first branch posting in Montreal to Halifax for a few years, then back to the Head Office in Montreal. Quickly he excelled in his career in Human Resources. The Bank is where he met the love of his life, Lynn Lester. While working together in the Training and Education department, they built an amazing friendship that quickly grew to more, marrying in October of 1979.

They welcomed their son Tim a few years after marrying.  A transfer to Toronto then followed. Their daughter Michelle was born in Toronto a few years later. With another transfer pending, Mike and Lynn took Michelle to Calgary for house hunting at only three days old while leaving Tim with Nana back home.

The family loved Calgary, and Mike thoroughly enjoyed managing a great team of people. Another transfer, back to Toronto, and then the offer of a consulting position back in Calgary. Mike loved being an HR consultant as he was able to help many different types of companies from gold mines to school boards, to film companies. He worked at Watson Wyatt, Towers Perrin, and ended his career with AON Consulting, making many friends along the way. He was a very well-respected businessman as well as the life of the party. His quick wit and British sense of humor were well appreciated by coworkers and friends.

Lynn and Mike shared a beautiful marriage of 43 years. They traveled to many places across the world but the family cottage at Lake MacLeod near Grenville, Quebec would always be their special place. Spending countless summers at the cottage, catching up with old friends on the dock, watching the hummingbirds and loons, and swimming in the lake was what they looked forward to every summer.

Mike's kids were his pride and joy. Most weekends he could be found coaching Michelle's soccer teams or teaching Tim how to golf. His love and admiration for his family were fierce. His grandkids also held a very special place in his heart (Arianna, Armaan, Ayaan, and Walker).

Doctors nicknamed Mike the "Miracle Man" after surviving a massive stroke in 2002. Life was dramatically altered but with his adoring wife by his side pushing him to recover, he went on to beat cancer twice and lived life to the fullest for the next twenty years. Mike spent lots of time in his beloved neighbourhood of Lake Bonavista in Calgary and enjoyed touring around on his power wheelchair.

There will be a private Celebration of Life for Mike in September, as he wanted his friends to gather and party together in his honour.
