​Born in Bulgaria in 1930, his mother Anna, father Adam, and 5 brothers with Michael being the 2nd youngest. When Michael was a young boy of 8, his father, a military man, was transferred to Germany during World War II.  After Michaels' brother and father were lost in the war, they moved to Wilfington Germany to start new lives. His mother had to work while Joseph and Heindrich went off to school leaving Michael to take care of his youngest brother Ludwig, who is still well and resides in Germany.

After completing his apprenticeship in Germany he sailed away to Canada to find... well let me tell you....

With his journeyman ticket as a millwright, he started his career in Canada.  He continued as a millwright and made many friends that he kept in contact with throughout his life.

Dad was a proud member of the German Male Choir of Calgary and was one of the original members. He is proud of all their accomplishments, the many places they traveled, the concerts they sang at, and his relationships within the choir. He finally left the choir in 2019 when his voice became too weak.

His wife Christel of 30 years and his children Ina, Ralph, Roland, and Michele.

He and my Mom loved traveling and gave us many great memories of the places we visited. In 1972 they opened Bambi Day Care and ran a successful business for over 30 years with as many as 62 children.

My Dad was a very strong man. He played hard and worked hard. He l oved all the Girls that helped in the Renoir and the Foothills Hospice, sharing his big smile and adoring humour. This durability of spirit gave him the strength to fight each injury and illness that befell him, but in the end, the Lung Cancer proved too much. My Father, Michael Bohn, with no middle name, born November 18, 1930, will always hold a special place in my heart.

My Opa,

Michael was always a joy to see!! He and I never really had a very strong relationship like other people with Grandpas but he loved me and I love him! My Opa was in the hospital a lot and I have to say Opa was strong, brave, and courageous to be able to go through what he did! Death means that you have lost someone, but it also meant that they are in for a new Journey! It means that they can see their loved ones that he lost. The day that Opa Passed I told my mom "he isn't gone, he is just here in a different way!
