Margaret Stoneman passed away very peacefully at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary in the presence of two dear friends, Marlene and Marilyn. Many thanks to Foothills and Rockyview Hospitals for their loving care of Margaret during her last days.

She was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming and moved to Canada in 1970. Margaret is survived by her sister Beth Stoneman Hardy, her brother Grant Stoneman, her daughter Sandy Hargy and numerous other relatives in the States.

Kierra Koeber, Margaret's grand-niece recently wrote to Margaret the following:

"Dear Aunt Margaret.

Even though I only see you every four to six years, I want you to know that you mean the world to me. I love you so much. I tell my friends about my super cool Canadian aunt all the time. I have always looked up to you for being so intelligent, worldly, and level headed, yet such a b**a** with how you've lived your life and all that you've gone through. I admire your strength and quiet serenity when you are going through so much. I love talking to you so much because you're so interesting and I always learn something new. I've always wished I could live closer to you. You are my favourite aunt and one of my greatest role-models and I love you more than these words can express. I think about you all the time and I always will. When I was in second grade and you gave me the doll that the blind lady from your church had made I used to keep it in my backpack to remind me of you because even just thinking about you brings me joy. I hope you feel better soon and I hope you have peace in your heart right now because you've earned it. You're such an extravagant woman and I aspire to be like you. You've made your mark upon me and I treasure you so much and I just wanted to let you know how much you mean to me.

Margaret had a great love of the English language particularly Holy Scripture; could discuss current events endlessly and enjoyed road trips to the Rockies complete with picnics and rock hunting. She was devoted to her church, Renfrew United Church in Calgary and sang in the choir. Throughout her many recent hospital stays, she remained cheerful, optimistic and considerate of others. She will be greatly missed. Margaret's ashes will be scattered in the Alberta Rocky Mountains that she loved so much.
