Obituary

Kerry Robert Pollock, 62, of Calgary, AB, born April of '59 in Melfort, SK, passed away on March 22, 2022. He passed in hospital, surrounded by his loving family, due to complications of his ongoing battle with cancer.

Kerry was always a family man and a loyal friend first and foremost, but he was also a passionate businessman, spending the last several years dealing in wine and whiskey barrel sales, and with his good friend and business partner, crafted furniture and home décor items out of the barrels. When his children were young and going through grade school, he worked as a DJ for weddings and occasionally school dances. He loved classic rock and country music, watching hockey and football. Kerry was a die-hard Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, always wearing a Rider's jacket or at least a hat. At home he could be found on the couch with his wife watching TV, with his best friend Button the cat (Buttsy for short) curled up between his legs, purring away.

May we remember him by his big heart, honest intentions, his kind eyes, and his willingness to help anyone in need. If you called, he'd drop what he's doing and be there in a hurry to help, no matter how long the drive was. He was so proud of all his kids, and most recently kept talking about how happy he was that his daughters have found such great men as partners.

Kerry was a loving father, and he is survived by his 3 adult daughters, Courtney, Jessica, Amanda, and teenaged son Justin. He was Grandpa Gimpy to 3-year-old Jaxson. He was a caring husband to wife Marlene, stepfather to her children Aaron, RaeAnn, and Shayla, and Grampa Kerry to Tenley and Briley, Amelia, Addison, and Royce. Kerry was the baby brother in the family to older sister Donna and brother Barry. He now joins their eldest sister Audrey and brother Corey in Heaven. Kerry is also survived by the mother of his children, Angela, and many other close friends he considered family; Mike, Joel, Majid, Troy, Sajid, Cathy and Shawn, just to name a few.

In his final hours, he was surrounded by loved ones as he tranquilly left this world. Kerry always believed that the day he was meant to die was set in stone from the moment he was born and was at peace with that. He had all his favourite items, such as his worn tie-die T-shirt, Riders jersey, and soft plushies. There was 70s and 80s music playing while his kids told funny stories, reliving their best memories, laughing, and watching them line dance to country music in the hospital room.

The Celebration of Life event for Kerry will be held on May 1, 2022, at the Lyalta Community Centre in AB, from 11am-3pm. More details can be found on his memorialized profile on Facebook. All friends and family of Kerry are welcome to attend.
