Juozas Zagelis was born in Taurage, Lithuania. As a boy he had quite an adventurous spirit and enjoyed active style of life. This has finally led him to the mountains and they captured his heart and soul.

As a student he embarked on month long trips to the mountains, where he would be tried physically and mentally. The stories brought back home would enrich his life and be a treat to those who heard them. Juozas was a great organizer from guiding groups in unknown mountainous terrains to running family events and rallies.

After moving to Canada, he remained a huge fan of Lithuanian basketball, and would not miss Zalgiris game. He would tirelessly recite each game's progress to all of us, keeping us in the known of the scores. His love for nature and people remains captured in thousands of photos.

Juozas always carried a camera wherever he went. He will forever remain in our hearts as a loving father, husband and a friend to so many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent on his behalf to the Alberta Cancer Foundation at https://www.albertacancer.ca/donate/
