John McDonald, loving husband of the late Theresa McDonald (McGinty) of Calgary, AB passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the age of 80.

John was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on May 31, 1943. He was the third of seven children to John and Mary McDonald. John married Theresa McGinty in 1965. They immigrated to Canada with their three young children in 1975, first to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and then moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1979.

John was predeceased by his wife Theresa in March 2020. He will be dearly missed by his three children and their spouses, Theresa (Grant) Gordon-Cooper, John (Tanis) McDonald, Jennifer (Jason) McGee; and grandchildren, Brogan, Connor (Hannah), Duncan, Branagh (Ridge), Carson and Cooper. John is also survived by two brothers, William (Irene) McDonald, and Peter (Anne) McDonald; and three sisters, Ann Jones, Mary (Simon) Ginn, and Margaret (Charlie) Ross; as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, on the McGinty side of the family. He will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Mary; his brother Bernard McDonald; sister-in-law Maureen McDonald; and brother-in-law Billy Jones.

John loved spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed sharing his memories of his childhood with his children and grandchildren.

A private family celebration for John has already taken place.
