It is with a heavy heart that the family announces the peaceful passing of John William Dykes on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the age of 82 years old.

John was the fourth of five children born to Eugenie and David Dykes, in Edmonton, AB

He spent his time between Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and other Alberta towns along the way, forming many lifelong friendships. He was the owner of Grove Auto Wash and Grove Hydraulics in Spruce Grove and worked in the oil and gas industry in his younger years.

In his retirement years, he could be found enjoying his time on the farm, on a cruise ship enjoying the sights, making new friends, and spending time with his family.

John was a hardworking, kind man, a respected colleague, dedicated father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and trusted friend.

Not forgotten and sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Margery; daughter Kerri-Lynn (Michael); grandson Trevor; granddaughter Lindsay (Bryce); son Scott (Lori); granddaughter Kimberly; grandson Mark (Marita); sister Marguriette Spilchen (Peter); brother-in-law Brian Dixon; sister-in-law Joan Campbell (Graham); numerous nieces and nephews; and the many friends he made along the way. John was predeceased by his parents; brothers David Ronald, and Lou; and sister Marie Dixon.

The family would like to thank the team at Southwood Hospice for the wonderful care given to John.

As per John's wishes, there will not be a formal Celebration of Life.
