With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joanne McPherson on Monday, October 25, 2021. Left to mourn her death are her husband (Dan McPherson); son (Brian McPherson); two daughters-in-law (Andrea McPherson & Leah McPherson); and Grandsons (Gabriel & Gideon McPherson). Her first-born son (Michael McPherson) passed away on March 27, 2021. Joanne was predeceased by her mother Merna Ward; her step-father Al Ward; her father William Tees; and her brother Cam Tees.

Joanne was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario to Merna and William Tees. As a little girl, she moved to Edmonton and then moved to Calgary where she met her future partner and husband Dan McPherson. Joanne was a dedicated mother who was patient, kind, and full of love for her family. Her love for them shone through in everything she did. Joanne had numerous friendships that she nurtured throughout her life, resulting in life-long relationships that she treasured.

She took joy in knitting, cooking amazing food (of which many recipes remain tried and true favorites in Brian and Andrea's household), traveling yearly to Puerto Vallarta with her husband Dan, planning and taking various trips with her long-time girlfriend Lorri, making crafts, enjoying white wine and first and foremost, spending time with her loved ones. She was gentle, kind, patient, and always genuine. In her days on earth, she was able to share her way of life in so many ways with her loved ones – we have learned so much from her.

Joanne's laugh and smile captured the entirety of her spirit. We will miss you dearly. You are in our hearts all ways, and always.

No formal funeral will take place. Instead, as Joanne wished, there will be a small intimate family gathering to spread her ashes amongst the same soil where her mother and brother rest.
