On Saturday, October 1, 2022, Jo-Anne Witherspoon, 78, passed away at the Southwood Care Center. She was predeceased by her parents Norman and Maureen; brother Terry; and son-in-law Fred. Jo-Anne is survived by her sons and daughters; David (Diane), Sandy, Craig (Lisa), Shelley (Jason), Jon, and Jeff (Michelle); and her grandchildren Kerri, Justin, Tyler, Haylee (Josh), Maddison, Evan, Brandon, Austin, Emily (Cameron), Jacob, Braiden, and Charlie. Left to mourn her are her sisters Sharon, Judy (Dave), and Bonnie (Brian); sister-in-law Karen(Joe); many nieces and nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

Jo-Anne worked hard cleaning hotels and the stampede grounds in the maintenance building. On her days off, she had her kids or grandkids at places like Riley park, Heritage Park, Calaway Park, and Bowness park, and she loved events in the city like the Calgary Stampede; she would never miss a performance from the showband. Jo-Anne could also be found in most places with her two dogs muffie and missie in tow. She was best known for her quick-witted humour and her gypsy spirit. She enjoyed being on the road and travelling to places such as Vancouver, Las Vegas, San Diego, and Tijuana. Many times during the week she would be by the sloughs watching her birds and just enjoying nature. In the summers you could find her with her summer family at various campgrounds around Alberta watching everyone float down the river or sitting by the fire. She loved music, every Saturday night she would listen to Cousin Brucie and Tony Orlando on a podcast either at home or out on the road. She was a generous soul, one of her favourite things to do was go shopping at the mall and she would always pick out things others would love, or things for herself that had bling.

At Jo-Anne's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, she asked that people remember the good times and if you visit a park or go on a road trip, she will be with you.
