With deep sadness, the family of Jean Sklar (Augustyn) announces her passing on July 28, 2022, in Calgary. She was surrounded by her family's love at the end. Jean leaves behind her children Joyce Schnurr (partner - Cecil), Jane (Robin) Mitchell, Robert (Patricia) Sklar, Ken Sklar; grandchildren Jardin, Jayda, Jaylene, Samantha, Natasha, Daniel, Brittany, Kyra, Caite, and Kirstyn; and great-grandchild Kohan, with a second to be born very soon. Jean is also survived by her brother Ed (Susan); and sister-in-laws Shirley Augystyn, Thelma Radchuk, and Rose Butula, and many nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Josephine Augystyn; brothers Walter, Stan, and Al; her husband Peter; daughter Gloria; and son-in-law Patrick Schnurr.

Jean moved to Canmore, Alberta at the age of 78 as she loved being in the mountains. She enjoyed the large family gatherings in Canmore, Kelowna, Calgary, and Edmonton during this time.

A special thank you to Gerri, a volunteer at Canmore Senior Lodge, who spent many wonderful hours with Mom on various outings. A very special thank you to Calgary Age Care Walden Heights-Sylvan staff who made her feel safe and cared for during her final years and especially during Covid-19.

The family would like to also thank the staff of Rocky View Hospital – Unit 81 for the amazing care and compassion shown to Mom during her last days.

There will be a private family memorial service in Saskatoon and internment of her remains in Prince Albert, on Saturday, September 3, 2022.
