Ilene Miller, beloved mother of Brad, Ken (Lana), Karen (Bob) Johnston, and David (Heather) passed away on April 13, 2023. She delighted in her many grandchildren, Bobby, Nicole, Alex (Kelsie), Rodney Amanda (Brendan), Robert, Jennifer (Braydon), Olivia, and Philip. Ilene's great-grandson Colin provided her with great joy for the last 6 years. She was predeceased by her husband Phil as well as her parents Robert (Bob) & Dora Sparks, Jessie (Larry) Hunter, Minnie (Jim) Lowe, and Bob (Sparky) Sparks.

Ilene was a dedicated card player, playing regularly in the senior games in cribbage, euchre, and whist, winning far more than her fair share. Indeed, she loved to visit over a game of cards and always quoted her mother "learn to play cards and you will never be lonely". Ilene always enjoyed the Calgary Stampede and loved to tell stories of her father, a true cowboy, who on more than one occasion drove horses for use in the Calgary Stampede.

Gardening was another major interest of Ilene, growing both vegetables & flowers and making jam. Many stories still circulate about the great pumpkin pie push of the mid 1970's, where even the mailman fled yet another offer.

Ilene loved to travel with her husband Phil and family. She had many wonderful trips visiting Portugal, Spain, China, New Zealand, and the Caribbean. Special trips to Disneyland with her grandchildren or Boston with her children on her 80th birthday were her favorite trips.

Ilene passed away peacefully wrapped in a quilt her mother made for her many years earlier surrounded by family. Her enthusiasm, her love, and outgoing nature will be missed greatly. Enjoy the big card game, Mom.
