We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Ian Smith of Red Deer, Alberta formally Eckville, Alberta on October 19, 2024, at the age of 57. Cremation has taken place.
Born in Leduc, Alberta, Ian was the youngest child of the late Myron and Doreen (Henson) Smith. Ian was predeceased by his older brother Clarence Smith, and his beloved dog Jojo. Ian is survived by his older sister Lois (Ron) Ring of Blackfalds, Alberta, his nieces and nephews, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ian was a lifelong truck driver and made many friends throughout his career. Ian loved to share stories about his truck driving experience across North America and ice road trucking. Ian had a vibrant personality and enjoyed new experiences in life. Ian dedicated his time and volunteered for years for the Eckville Fire Department. Ian loved camping, fishing, boating, and spending time with family.
A special thank you to the Fire Department and EMS of Rimbey Alberta, MACH Energy Services, as well as, Jeremy and Brittany Doll for the assistance on the day of Ian's death. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
