It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Hjordis Jacqueline Brown(Sand) on March 7th, 2022 at the Mayfair Care Center in Calgary Alberta. Hjordis passed away peacefully with her son David by her side.

Hjordis was born on the family farm on Christmas Eve, 1940 in Melaval Saskatchewan. She spent her youth on the farm until the family moved to Bowness. As there were 14 children in the family, when they moved away, the small country school was closed because there were no longer enough students attending it. She attended Bowness Composite High School and met Dave through her brothers. They married in 1956 and raised four children together. Hjordis loved to spend time with her family, her children and grandchildren meant everything to her. She loved to go fishing and spend time out at the cabin on the lake.

Hjordis was predeceased by her husband, David Phillips Brown; her son Barry Brown; her parents Margit and Bjarne Sand; and several of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her remaining children, Valerie Brochner (Ken), David Brown(Marie), and Tammy Hyde (Fred Tucker); along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her remaining sisters Shirley Russel, Violet Scheiner, and Sharon Sand.

A private family inurnment service will take place later in the Spring and a celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Mayfair Care Center for their care and devotion to Hjordis over the past 13 years.
