Gordon Wilson
November 20th, 1954- Edmonton, Alberta
June 28th, 2022- Mayerthorpe, Alberta
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gordon Wilson on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022 at the age of 67 years.
Gord was a beloved father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. The middle of three children born in Edmonton Alberta on November 20th, 1954 to Henry and Ellen Wilson.
Gord graduated from SAIT polytechnics and went on to be a culinary chef. Running his own restaurants for a couple of years. He then decided to go work in the oil field as a pastry chef, working 21 days on and 7 days off. He quickly moved through the company being promoted to camp manager. He remained in the industry until his retirement in 2015.
Gord was always the life of the party with all of his many friends and family. He loved to go to Chalks and Chill Billiards in Midnapore with his friends and brother Mike. He was quite the pool player. Gord was the reigning pool champion of his 900 man Clean Harbours Camp. Gord loved to travel, he would often go to AZ with his mother Ellen to escape the cold weather. Gord and his son Dylan took a trip to Mazatlan Mexico, which was a trip neither of them will forget. They also vacationed in Radium Hot Springs religiously. Gord had mentioned to Dylan that he thought having a legacy car would be a great way to remember him. He always loved the look of the Corvette. Dylan had done some research and found a car in their price range. Gord immediately fell in love with a 1979 Corvette Stingray and ended up leaving one of their Radium trips early to drive to Edmonton to pick it up. Gord's other talent was his cooking. He didn't always enjoy it, but damn was he good at it. Some of his favorite meals to cook included Schnitzel, Butterflied Lobster, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and Asian cuisine. Many other things that he enjoyed including, but not limited to mowing the lawn, watching his favorite James Bond movies, and watching the Miami Dolphins lose for another season, whilst enjoying a late-night cocktail.
Left to mourn his passing are his loving son Dylan Wilson (Alanna Evenson); his brother Mike Wilson (Laurie Shannon); sister Shawna and Greg Lang; as well as numerous nieces and nephews Chad Lang, Shane Lang (Penelope Lang), Crystal Bellefountaine (Kayla Mcniven), Kori Wilson, and Tanner Wilson (Talon Wilson).
Gord was larger than life in so many ways! Anyone who met him loved him and never forgot him. He's in a happier place now with lots of friends and family and most of all Bud and Ellen.
