It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gordon Douglas Friars on Sept. 01, 2021 at the age of 80.

Gordon will be remembered for his Love and devotion to his wife and children. His huge heart, kindness, and willingness to help, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Gordon was an amazing cook and baker. Passionate about gardening, nature, birds, and NHL hockey, especially the Calgary Flames.

Born in Parkbeg (Mortlach}, Sask. at his family residence.

Joining the army brought him to Calgary in 1959. Where he met his wife and raised his family.

In 2005 he retired from Alberta Distillers LTD after 30 years. Gordon and Ruby then relocated to the quiet town of Lomond, AB.

Gordon will be deeply missed by his wife Ruby of 59 years and his 5 children. Lori (Al), Maureen, Bruce (Theresa), Diana (Rick), and Belinda (Steve).

Grandchildren Roger (Melissa), Nicholas (Sarah), Casey, Justin, Amanda, Ashley, Austin; great grandaughters Emma and Mya.

He leaves behind 3 sisters Betty, Ethel, Linda, and brother Arnold, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Margaret, his 8 siblings, and granddaughter Viola Christine.

No Service will be held to respect Gordon's wishes. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation .

A celebration of life will be held when gatherings are allowed.  Notices will be sent out when we know more.
