In Loving Memory

George John Kanderka, was born on July 23, 1945, and passed peacefully with his family by his side on September 5, 2022, in Red Deer, Alberta.

George left behind his loving partner, Madeline Porter; his two sons Cory Kanderka (Chelsea), Troy Kanderka (Amy); and stepdaughter Tara Tost. George was a proud grandfather to four grandsons and one granddaughter, Austin, Carson, and Jordon Kanderka (Cory), Kaiden Kanderka (Troy), and Jorja Haggerty (Tara). He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother John Kanderka; sister Helen Megli; and the mother to his boys, Lynda Kanderka, along with many other special family and friends.

George was predeceased by his parents Jon and Anne Kanderka; as well as his brother Don Kanderka.

George was born in Drumheller, Alberta, and grew up on the family farm in the Acme Grianger District. His life was focused around his family and farming. As a young boy and into his teenage years, George enjoyed fast cars, playing guitar, painting, and tinkering around the farm, on vehicles, and anything else he could get his hands on.

At the age of 28, he moved to Calgary Alberta, where he and Lynda started their family. They later moved to Red Deer where they devoted their lives to raising their two boys, and later met his special stepdaughter.

George loved his friends and socializing with anyone who crossed his path. He spent many nights at the Elks Club in Red Deer, and weekends at their family cabin in Sylvan Lake. He shared with his family his love for camping in his motorhome and traveling to their favorite spots on their many road trips to Las Vegas.

George dedicated 30+ years to his trade, as a Journeyman Plumber, Gasfitter, and Pipefitter, working all over Alberta, and finally retiring from AGT/Telus in 2000. He used this love of the trade and his strong work ethic to teach his boys many valuable lessons, some that stuck with them, and others not as much. Nevertheless, George always stood by his boys' sides whenever they needed him; he was beyond proud of the strong, caring, successful men they grew up to become. His proudest moments were always when he was talking about his boys.

In 2014, George relocated to Stettler, Alberta with his partner Madeline Porter, where they carried out their days visiting family and friends, camping in their motorhome, and trips to the casino.

George was always a ray of sunshine, continuously smiling and just happy to be surrounded by the ones he loved. His notorious chuckle is shared by both his sons and all his grandsons; his legacy will live on through all of them and many years of laughter. He will be forever loved, and dearly missed by many. Rest in peace Dad.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Red Deer, at Bo's Bar and Stage, on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 1:00 pm.
