Gary
Carrington
Aug 18, 1952 — Oct 23, 2021
The world's light dimmed a little as Gary was called home. He was predeceased by his parents Blanche & James Carrington; two sons Rick and James; as well as his first wife Shelley.
Gary was born and raised in Calgary and saw little reason to venture from Alberta, save the odd fishing trip with his buddies.
He was known in Whitehorn as quite the pool player playing for many years at Shotz as well as at home with his pool partner and son James, even traveling out of his comfort zone to Las Vegas. Sometimes the rest of us got to play too but it was definitely their thing.
Gary was always willing to listen, lending a hand for family and friends without question, he will always be remembered as humble and kind with a healthy dash of humorous sarcastic wit built-in.
He loved working on models (majestic ships & later miniature metal sculptures of all sorts) We are grateful for all his intricate creations all over the house showing us all the rewards of patience and persistence.
When Gary retired from his fabrication career, he fast became keeper of all the urban wildlife on his street, whether it was the stray cats whom he built a cat condo for, neighborhood squirrels that have their own picnic table, or any of the plethora of his winged friends that line up on the fence awaiting his friendly banter and treats.
Gary loved playing poker for fun, woodworking, animals--especially Buddy (his wingman in the poker rooms and the best cockatoo ever), a great joke, and playful banter. He also loved baseball with Toronto Blue Jays being his favourite.
Above all Gary loved his family. Left behind to carry forward Gary's legacy is his life partner and best friend of 22 years Patti; his brother Rick (Irene); c hildren Sarah (Clayton), Shannon (Mark), Amy, Tamilyn (Wesley) and g randchildren Sebastian, Tyler, Abbey, Haley, Caleb, Clayton, David.
