Eva passed away on September 11, 2021 after an unsuccessful recovery from a heart attack. She was 85 years old.

Eva was born in Budapest before the Second World War and survived revolution and refugee camps while living in several countries. She came from a long line of strong and resilient women, and was a classy lady with a style and sense of humour all her own.

Eva married her childhood sweetheart, Joe. Together, they enjoyed a beautiful life in Yellowknife with many friends and weekends out at the Legion and Elks clubs dancing the night away. Eva cooked delicious meals that were enjoyed by all who visited; many came frequently for her Hungarian cuisine!

After a lifetime of hard work, Eva enjoyed a wonderful retirement in Calgary with her Hungarian community. She was well traveled and enjoyed frequent trips to Vegas, as well as bus tours with friends across Canada and the US. In her later years, she was happy visiting with friends, attending weekly seniors' club luncheons, enjoying a good steak BBQ at her apartment, and getting her hair and nails done at the salon; all while maintaining her independent lifestyle.

Eva was a loving and supportive wife to Joe; proud mother to Steven (Lisa), Fiona, and John; and dearest 'Mumma' to Adam, Aaron, Hana, Tyler, Joshua, Daniella and Christopher.

Eva used to say, "In our family, love isn't just a word, it was real". Eva's love and devotion to family is an inspiration to us all. We love you forever Mum, and are comforted knowing you are reunited with Dad in Heaven.
