It is with tremendous sorrow we announce the passing of Eric James Herbert Kubel at the age of 35. Eric was born to Randy James Kubel and Claudette Nancy-Marie Benoit on February 10, 1986, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Eric's childhood was spent in both Penticton, British Columbia, and Calgary, Alberta, the latter being where Eric attended and graduated from Ernest Manning High School, class of 2004. The impact his brief life had on those around him is near impossible to distill in words, and even if distilled, no arrangement of these words could justly express how deeply we love him, or how proud of him we are.

Eric gave his spirit to those who knew him. He could bend and shape himself to fit whatever our hearts were missing, lending us for a moment his strength, his humor, and his kindness. Now, our hearts are missing Eric, and we need to rely upon each other to keep his spirit with us, and our hearts whole.

Eric was also both sensitive, and sentimental. He made a yearly pilgrimage from Calgary to the Okanagan, to relive boyhood memories of hot summers spent camping with his father and brother, and to visit Munson Mountain (Penticton), where his Mothers ashes were laid rest. In keeping with Eric's tradition, his ashes will return to the Okanagan and be laid to rest atop of Munson Mountain.

Eric leaves behind Randy Kubel (Sue) - Father, Adam Kubel (Sarah) - Brother, Jon Benoit – Uncle, Jen Benoit (Tom) – Aunt, Chris Benoit (Julie) – Cousin, Savanah and Aria Benoit - much-adored Nieces, Sam Benoit – Cousin, Shawn Tania - loved partner, and countless friends. We will always love you, we will always be proud of you, and we will always miss you. In lieu of flowers to the family, please consider making a donation in his name to the Calgary Food Bank .
