Donald
Anweiler
Sep 26, 1937 — Sep 24, 2022
Don Anweiler passed suddenly on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Rockyview General Hospital, two days shy of his 85th birthday. Proud father of Bradley Anweiler (Lili) and Karen Boddy (Greg) and cherished grandfather of Bryson, Jayden, Nathan, and Megan. Predeceased by his devoted wife, Marion (2018).
Don will be remembered fondly for many things, but most notably for his love of dogs. He was the unofficial kennel for so many friends' and family members' pets, and caring for them brought him so much happiness. His own dogs, Cocoa, Jessie, and Chiques were his treasured sidekicks and joined him on many tranquil morning walks and outdoor adventures over the years.
Don was passionate about the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His perfect day would be spent with friends or family on a boat trying to catch "the big one", and then returning home to enjoy his music. Don's extensive record collection and high-end audio equipment would be the envy of any audiophile. He spent endless hours listening to his favourite artists and hunting down new equipment and records from local vendors.
Don will be remembered as someone you could rely on to be there when you needed help of any kind. His friendships meant the world to him and he sadly had to watch as many of his lifelong friends passed years before he did. As he crosses over the rainbow bridge, he will have many friendly faces, both furry and human waiting for him on the other side.
In keeping with Don's wishes, there will be no funeral or public ceremony. A long-time resident of Southwood, Don resided at Atria Canyon Meadows for the past three years. Don's family would like to thank the residents and staff of Atria for their friendship and support for Don, particularly through his recent health challenges.
