Dave grew up in Lacombe Alberta and was a very social person. He was in the drama club and competed in musical competitions playing the accordion. Dave's ambition was to go to college. He was on the honor roll in high school. Dave started working on the rail road in the early seventies.

Unfortunately, he became a heavy drinker and moved from job to job, and finally ended up in Calgary. Over the next 3 decades, he lived on the streets of Calgary. Everyone that knew dave said he was always the first to help others out and always was very friendly. They say he was always very positive. He was well-spoken and loved to read.

Dave passed away on Oct 27 2021 in foothills hospital from liver and kidney failure. He is survived by one brother Doug Long and family from Saskatchewan.
