Obituary

Bruce Disturnal, the beloved husband of Tracey Disturnal (nee Watson), of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the age of 66 years.

Bruce was born in Calgary, Alberta on July 28, 1957. He was raised in Haysboro and spent his early days exploring with friends which set the stage for his lifelong journey of friendship, exploration, adventure, and fun. Bruce graduated from Henry Wisewood High School, SAIT, and the University of Calgary. His career in project management at Fluor, Colt, and Worley brought him great satisfaction and lasting friendships.

He was always most at home in the outdoors, camping, hiking, climbing, hunting, skiing, and fishing. He shared his passion with all who would join in and had many memorable outings. His greatest source of joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He relished time spent planning adventures and sharing his excitement for whatever the destination. He was the embodiment of love, kindness, loyalty, humour, and intelligence. He will be remembered as a gifted storyteller and for his incredible presence, everyone knew when Bruce was in the room.

He will be missed dearly by his loving wife of 31 years, Tracey, his daughter Tara, son-in-law Scott Swalm, and grandsons, Tucker and Brooks. He is also survived by his sister Jean (Preston Wiley), brother John (Jill Hartzell), his father-in-law George Watson, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Richard Disturnal and Catherine Ann Disturnal, and mother-in-law Judy Watson.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at The Hamptons Golf Club, 69 Hampton Drive NW Calgary, at 1:30 PM.
