It is with great sadness but also hearts filled with gratitude and love, we say farewell, for now, to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Betty Mae Barr, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the age of 96 years.

Every family looks for strength in its heart and character in its soul. Our Mother has always been the heart and soul of the family.

Betty is survived and will be missed by her daughters, Brenda Strandlund (Gordon) and her children Christy Thompson (Gerald) and Kelsey Cassels; Colleen Prodaniuk (Brian) and their son Sean (Leanne); Shelley Van Reekum (Herman) and their sons Evan and Kale, and her great-grandchildren Braydon, Kayda, Van, Kate, Enid, and Clyde. She is also survived by her two sisters Mary and Shirley, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.

Betty was predeceased by her husband Henry John Barr, in June 1971, and her sister Muriel.

Mom (Nana) will long be remembered for her love of family, her encouragement and support, her helping hand…a hug or a smile.  "Nana Banana" was one of a kind.  Our warrior!

She had many long-lasting friendships, from Edmonton, Saskatoon to Calgary.  It is bittersweet to say goodbye to a woman, who loved as fiercely and gave so much of herself to us and others.  Love you to the Moon and back Mom.

Our family would like to thank the amazing staff at Providence Care Center for making a home for Mom, and we are very grateful for her care, their compassion, and friendship.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at a later date when extended family can be with us.  We look forward to sharing stories and memories of Betty together.
