Alice Nielsen (formerly Koenen, nee Lorencz) passed away peacefully on October 28, 2022 in Calgary at the age of 89.

She was born on November 5, 1932 in Aubrey, Saskatchewan. She is survived by Brenda (Perry) Moscrip, Bryan Koenen, and Sean Nielsen. Grandma Alice will be missed by her grandchildren Nicole, Karla, Amy, Shiloe, Devin, Lee, and Shawn; step-grandchildren Amber and Brianna; her great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Kevin Koenen.

Alice fondly remembered growing up with her many brothers and sisters, and nieces and nephews. She recalled with fondness the family gatherings at the farm and in Shaughnessy. She remembered the celebrations when all of the family gathered, and the music they played all hours of the night.

Alice's greatest joy was her family and she enjoyed spending time with all of them. Even in her last thoughts and prayers, it was for the well-being of her children, grandchildren, and her great and great-great-grandchildren. She wanted everyone to know how much they were loved by her.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the South Health Campus for their care and compassion.

In lieu of a funeral service, there will be an open house for family and friends.
