Alexander Norton "Alex" Paish, age 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, December 14, 2022, after a brief illness. Alex was born December 20, 1943, in Montreal, Quebec to the late William and Nancy (McPherson) Paish. He married his long-time friend and love, Merrily Gay Paish (McKenzie), in September of 1965 who preceded him in death on Christmas Day 2010.

Alex will be dearly missed by his four children and their spouses, Tracie and Russel Morrison, Todd and Jill Paish, Scott and Tracey Paish, and Kellie and Alex Pudsey; his beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Matt, Victoria, Sydni, Andrea, and Kaitlyn; and his brother Bill Paish. All of these he loved and touched deeply.

Alex loved his family, and they always came first in his life, above everything else. Alex was never without his camera. He was always taking pictures and capturing memories that he so cherished. He was very proud to show his bedroom walls filled with photographs celebrating every family achievement.

For many years, Alex worked as a volunteer with NODA (No One Dies Alone) providing emotional support and companionship to patients who were about to pass away but did not have a friend or family member available to be with them. Alex's peaceful and calming presence allowed many patients to know they were not alone during their final moments of life. His dedication to this volunteer work earned Alex the President's Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement in Patient and Family Centered Care.

Alex will be remembered for his ability to make friends everywhere he went; his enjoyment of a good glass of red wine; his fondness of his time in Montreal, Florida, Nova Scotia, and Calgary; and his unwavering devotion to his childhood sweetheart and wife, Merrily "Nana". Alex was a man full of kindness and warmth. His family will miss him dearly.

A private celebration of Alex's life will be held on January 15, 2023 at the home of Tracie and Russel Morrison.  In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
